Core Team
Univ.-Prof.in Priv.-Doz.in Dr.in med. Ramona Woitek, PhD
PROFESSOR | HEAD OF RESEARCH GROUP (MIAAI)
Ramona Woitek completed her medical studies at the Medical University of Vienna in 2008, followed by a PhD in Clinical Neuroscience and a radiology residency at the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy at the Medical University of Vienna. Between 2017 and 2022, Professor Woitek worked in scientific research and clinical practice at the Department of Radiology at the University of Cambridge and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, UK, where she researched hyperpolarised carbon-13 MRI and radiomics and multiomics in breast and ovarian cancer.
At the DPU, Univ.-Prof. PD Dr. med. Ramona Woitek, PhD, is head of the research group Medical Image Analysis and AI (MIAAI).

Univ.-Prof.in Priv.-Doz.in Dr.in med. Julia Furtner-Srajer, PhD MBA
PROFESSOR | DEPUTY HEAD (MIAAI)
Professor Julia Furtner-Srajer is Professor of Radiology at the Danube Private University and Deputy Director of the MIAAI.
She received her medical training at the Medical University of Vienna, completing a PhD thesis on the Clinical Neurosciences doctoral programme, and was formerly head of the intraoperative MRI, the neuroradiological PET/MRI and the neurooncological imaging research group at the Medical University of Vienna.
Professor Furtner-Srajer is board member of several national and international societies, including the ÖGNR (Austrian Neuroradiology Society), the Brain Tumour Group and Imaging Group of the EORTC (European Organisation of Research and Treatment of Cancer), EURACAN (European Reference Network on Rare Adult Cancers), the ESMO (European Society of Medical Oncology) Brain Tumour Group and COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).
She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and serves as Associate Editor of the journal Frontiers in Radiology. Her research focuses on advanced neuro-oncology imaging and imaging biomarkers.

Ass.-Prof.in Dr.in Sepideh Hatamikia
ASSISTENT PROFESSOR | HEAD OF COMPUTATIONAL IMAGING (MIAAI)
Ass.-Prof. Dr Sepideh Hatamikia completed her PhD and also a postdoctoral position in biomedical engineering field at the Medical University of Vienna, in the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Digital Image Processing Laboratory.
Her main research interests include medical image processing (image reconstruction, image registration and image segmentation), artificial intelligence (machine learning and deep learning) and 3D printed imaging phantom development.
Ass.-Prof. Dr Hatamikia has worked as a researcher at the Austrian Centre for Medical Innovation and Technology (ACMIT) since January 2018 and continues to collaborate with this research centre on different research projects. She received the 2021/2022 Innovation Award for medical technology in Austria for her project “Customized 3D imaging – collision avoidance in CBCT for interventional imaging” which was the core element of her PhD thesis.

Ass. Prof. Dr. Hatamikia is currently the head of Computational Imaging within the MIAAI research group at the Danube Private University (DPU) in Austria.

Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Kyung-Eun (Anna) Choi
PROFESSOR | HEAD OF HEALTH SERVICE RESEARCH (MIAAI)
Kyung-Eun (Anna) Choi is a research psychologist (HHU, Düsseldorf, Germany) with an additional Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies (Salzburg University, Austria) and defended her PhD Thesis on Differentiated Mechanisms of Pain Perception. Until 2020, she was Head of Health Services Research and Director of Studies for the corresponding Master’s programme at the Institute for Medical Sociology, Health Services Research and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Cologne, Germany.
Besides being Professor for Health Services Research at the DPU, she is currently the Head of the Health Services Research/Rehabilitation Science group at the Centre for Health Services Research at Brandenburg Medical School, Germany, where she also serves as a board member.
